Greathouse Cemetery

Greathouse Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Mt. Pleasant. Located in the Southeastern part of the city about one block south of Choctaw Street, east of Lide Avenue, and 50 feet from Red Springs Avenue. An area of about 30 feet square is now enclosed by a concrete wall of 3 feet in height. In the center of this is one monument erected by Mary B. Edwards (formerly a Greathouse) to the memory of her mother and father, T. H. and Mary Greathouse. land other members of the Greathouse family, Snodgrass family, and Turner family. Mary H. Greathouse was a Turner. There have been no burials in the last 90 years or more.

From the Titus County court house take 1st Street East to Florey Avenue. Turn right on Florey. Turn right on Choctaw. Turn left on Red Springs. The cemetery lies mid-block between Choctaw and Fricke.. Coordinates: 33o09.131'N 094o48.950'W
